Progressive rock band Leeland received five Dove Award nominations during today’s press conference announcing the 38th Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Award nominees at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Nashville, Tenn. The Dove Awards will be handed out on April 25, 2007 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The awards show will be televised in national syndication in May.

Leeland received nominations in the following categories: New Artist of the Year; Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song, “Sound of Melodies”; Worship Song, “Yes You Have”; Rock/Contemporary Album, Sound of Melodies; and Praise and Worship Album, Sound of Melodies.

According to Leeland frontman, Leeland Mooring, “When I heard we were nominated for five categories, I thought someone was playing a joke on us. We are so honored to be nominated with so many artists that we have grown up listening to and respect. This is very surreal.”

Sound of Melodies, the Dove and GRAMMY-nominated, 11-track debut from Leeland was produced by Matt Bronleewe, Marc Byrd and Steve Hindalong. According to Leeland Mooring, “Whenever we play, our main goal is to be able to minister to our generation.” Leeland is comprised of: Leeland Mooring, guitar/lead vocals; Jack Mooring, piano/vocals; Jake Holtz, bass; and Mike Smith, drums. Leeland will play 17 festivals during the summer of 2007. For all concert dates and further information, visit www.leelandonline.com or www.myspace.com/leelandmusic.
