|THIRD DAY IMPACTS TOUR MARKET WITH SOLD-OUT DATES
06 March 2006
Platinum-selling, GRAMMY and Dove award winning rock band Third Day is blowing away industry expectations on the Spring leg of their highly successful “Wherever You Are Tour,” with special guests, the David Crowder Band. With ten sell-outs already, including the Atlanta, GA date which sold out in only 40 minutes, and growing momentum, many more sell-outs are anticipated. Third Day continues to secure their place as the most popular rock band in all of Christian music, and is poised to be one of the biggest draws in all genres of music in 2006.
After receiving a nomination as Song of the Year, “Cry Out To Jesus,” the lead single from Wherever You Are, continues to make an extraordinary impact on all formats of Christian radio. This powerful anthem is becoming their career-marking single, as it is the longest running No. 1 single from Third Day to ever hit AC radio.
While partnering with World Vision and Chevrolet, Third Day’s 36-city Spring tour includes sellouts in key markets such as: Fairfax, VA; Louisville, KY; Sacramento (Rocklin), CA; Atlanta, GA; Minneapolis, MN and S. Barrington, IL (Willow Creek).
Promoters are thrilled at the response this tour has been getting. “This tour is going to be Third Day’s best. Their new album is awesome,” noted Carol Auxier, GM, DC Concert Ministries. “Thousands of loyal fans in the Washington DC market eagerly waited to take their seats at the Patriot Center on Feb 16th. The evening was a blessing for everyone.”
Jon Robberson of Celebration Concerts, promoter of the Sacramento (Rocklin) date, said, “In 27 years of promoting I’ve never experienced a sell out with six weeks to go. The fan-frenzy energy surrounding this tour is tremendous. It’s exciting to once again see Third Day connecting to their legions of loyal fans, what a testament to their live performance excellence and heart for concert ministry.”
Band member Tai Anderson said, “It’s so great to be out on the road and see all our amazing fans. They are so encouraging to us, helping us to stay committed to our mission. More than saying they like us, I think they’re really saying that they want to have an encounter with God. We hope we can continue helping them to do that night after night. That’s success.”
Third Day recently received a GRAMMY nomination for their Live Wire CD, this on the heels of winning their second GRAMMY Award at last year’s ceremonies. Over the past decade, Third Day has amassed 21 #1 radio singles and sold more than five million albums, with RIAA certifications including one Platinum record, one Platinum DVD, and five Gold records. They have garnered 23 career Dove Awards, two Grammy Awards (from five nominations), two consecutive American Music Award nods, multiple ASCAP honors, developed an historic partnership with Chevrolet, and developed a touring record second to none by playing for audiences reaching into the millions.
