If it has strings you can bet that Josh Bates can play it. This incredible musician has played instruments practically his entire life. It comes as second nature to him. But, if you ask Josh what his true love is, he will tell you it is singing. Raised in a church pastored by his father Josh has always thought of singing as the greatest expression of praise to God of which we are capable. And, for Josh, the greatest moments in life are when he is singing to God.
Discovered at the age of 15 by Mark Miller, head of Beachstreet Records (Casting Crowns) and frontman for country super-group Sawyer Brown, Josh has spent 7 years developing his skills as a singer, musician and worship leader for the youth of his home church. During that time he and Mark Miller collected songs for what has become his debut album, Perfect Day.
With Josh's signature vocals and incredible musicianship coupled with Mark Miller's finely-tuned production skills, Perfect Day demonstrates a maturity beyond the typical debut. The songs, as you would expect with Mark Miller at the helm, are very well crafted and speak directly to the heart of the church. Musically the album has a guitar-driven pop sound that highlights Josh's voice and lets the message of the songs really come through.
With the incredible success of Casting Crowns many have been wondering what is next for Mark Miller and Beachstreet Records. Josh Bates is a very welcome answer to that question.
