|THIRD DAY GARNERS DOVE AWARDS FOR WIRE
20 April 2005
Atlanta based rock band Third Day celebrated yet another accolade for its seventh studio album, Wire (11/23/04) when it took the stage last at the Grand Ole Opry house to claim the Rock/Contemporary Album trophy. Earlier this year the band received a GRAMMY for the RIAA Gold certified album. In addition to their own album win, the band was recognized with a Dove for it’s participation in The Passion of the Christ: Songs which won in the Special Event Album category.
Over the span of Third Day’s career, the band has garnered 23 Dove Awards, multiple ASCAP honors, two consecutive American Music Award nominations, and has surpassed the five million mark in career sales. Third Day’s success on tour is unparalleled with an audience of more than 800,000 in 2002, ranking twice on touring magazine Pollstar's “Top 100 Tours of 2002” list, and an audience of more than 1 million on the “Live Wire” tour claiming a spot on Pollstar's Top 100 in 2004.
The band also picked up its second GRAMMY Award this February, following a phenomenal year in 2004, that included a performance at the GOP Convention in New York City, a feature on CBS' 60 Minutes news magazine, the celebrated Nationwide “Live Wire” Tour sponsored by Chevrolet, and the release of the Platinum certified Live Wire, a special two-disc live DVD/CD set.
