Manic Drive Band Bio
  • Shawn Cavallo
  • Michael Cavallo
  • Reason For Motion

How can you be 19 years old with four indie releases and ten years in a rock band under your belt? For Manic Drive, the answer would be taking the stage when you’re 9. “We loved music so much when we were little kids that we started writing, performing and even recording at the age of eight and nine. While my brother and I were growing up, our relationship with God and our music kind of grew together. So, we’ve always used music to communicate God’s love to people,” says Manic Drive lead singer and drummer Shawn Cavallo. Reason For Motion the band’s fifth recording and international debut is the result of sincere soul searching and a relentless pursuit to accomplish their mission in a relevant way. Riff-driven aggressive rhythms on the heavier side lead by melodic vocals put the band squarely in the center of the new rock edge (Linkin Park, Incubus, POD, Pillar) with the obvious advantage of being veteran players. “This record is definitely our strongest,” states guitarist Michael Cavallo. “We had the awesome opportunity to work with some amazing people this time out: The very well respected producer Brian Hardin (These 5 Down, FFH, Larry Norman, Vicki Yohe) and excellent engineer Jamie K. of Thousand Foot Krutch, who created an environment for us to collaborate on many levels. We’ve recorded independently in the past, but this project really took things to another level both musically and lyrically. We had to dig deep spiritually and as players. The last year has been a study of trust in God and those around us, and it gave us a hope that really grew and matured us. I think we’ve come into our own and the record really shows that.” As Canadian natives, the Cavallo brothers spent the last decade touring the festival circuit on both sides of the border, sharing the stage with every act imaginable from Switchfoot to fellow countrymen Thousand Foot Krutch, while refining their spiritual mission at The Meeting House, a thriving community of believers with satellite congregations all over the greater Toronto area. Hundreds of concert appearances in multiple countries have given Manic Drive a purpose: To speak to a generation passionately looking for something true to live for, many of whom suffer from addiction, hate and abuse, with a clear message of hope and truth. “We’ve begun to measure our success in terms of the harvest for the Kingdom of God,” says Michael Cavallo. “We’re manic about it. We’re driven to see people jumping up and down to the music and going to their knees as the anointing hits the place.”
