DecembeRadio Takes Home Rock Album of the Year
27 April 2007

Slanted Records recording artists DecembeRadio took home their first GMA Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year at yesterday’s 38th Annual Dove Awards ceremony. The rock band, known for their slammin’ live stage shows and classic rock influences, was nominated in four categories following their debut self-titled release--Song of the Year (“Drifter”), New Artist of the Year, Rock Recorded Song of the Year (“Dangerous”) and Rock Album.

“It’s amazing how God has blessed us this year,” stated group member Eric Miker. “We are grateful to everyone in the industry--radio, retail, promoters, media--and to our fans for their support and for honoring us with this award. We want to dedicate this to our friends and family in Blacksburg, Vir., and to the families and others who are experiencing losses back at home at Virginia Tech.”

DecembeRadio, produced by Scotty Wilbanks, was also nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album of the Year. The band’s hit “Drifter,” which they performed on the awards program, climbed to #5 on BILLBOARD'S Hot Christian Song listing for five weeks and landed in the Top 10 for sixteen weeks. The single has become a mainstay at both AC and CHR radio garnering Top 20 and Top 5 spots respectively.

DecembeRadio’s Dove-nominated rock single, “Dangerous,” also a Top 20 hit, is currently the theme song for “Hazard Pay,” a program highlighting those with dangerous vocations, aired on the Discovery Channel.

The band gave an acoustic performance of “Drifter” at the annual Songwriters’ Showcase held on Sunday night during GMA Music Week and also played the hit for radio attendees at this year’s Echo Awards. “Drifter” was part of the band’s headlining set at the Yellow Tangerine Showcase, held during the week at B.B. King’s in downtown Nashville. That set also included a moment of pause and reflection as they introduced their new A/C and CHR single, “Least of These,” as well as a rollicking performance of their new rock single, “Table,” which received resounding applause and industry buzz after they performed it at Word Distribution’s Big Hits Luncheon for radio and retail attendees at the Renaissance Hotel.

Yahoo! Music is scheduled to have a Dove Awards page up through 9 p.m. tonight with exclusive streaming of DecembeRadio’s Dove program performance of “Drifter.” Other artists scheduled to be a part of this include Chris Tomlin, Stellar Kart, Leeland and TobyMac with Kirk Franklin and Mandisa. The band leaves Nashville to head out on the Generation Rising Tour, alongside Superchick, Krystal Meyers, Group 1 Crew and Nevertheless. The tour will hit over 20 markets including Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Orlando, Fla.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Duluth, MN; Cincinnati, OH; Naperville, IL; Ocean City, NJ; Bangor, ME; Park Hills, MO and Minneapolis, MN among others. DecembeRadio is distributed through Word Distribution/WEA and is currently featured on Word’s Spring Semester retail promotion as well as the Christian Picks program in various mainstream accounts. The recording is distributed digitally through EMI CMG Distribution. “Drifter” is also available as a ringtone. For further information, visit www.decemberadio.com or www.slantedrecords.com.

The GMA Music Awards show will be televised in national syndication in May.
