Dayanidhi, better known as Daya, was born and raised in Calcutta, India. He attended The Assemblies of God Church in Calcutta. It was here he came under the ministries of the church and received his education in the mission school. He thus became a sponsored child… and a “Missions Kid”.
Daya grew up under the guidance and leadership of godly men and women who nurtured him in his spiritual walk. One day he discovered that God had trusted him with the gift of music, a high tenor voice. He sang his first solo, “Higher grounds”, in the church at the age of seventeen. He soon joined the music ministries of the church and became a regular member of the choir. He was featured as on one of the main soloists for “Songs of the Season” which is the annual Christmas production of the church.
Daya has also performed for several recording artists on request. He had the honor of singing at the opening ceremony for the World Cup Cricket 1996 at Calcutta, under the direction of the Late Ananda Shankar. He also had the honor of singing for “Flame in the Slum”, a recording in honor of Mother Teresa, which was later awarded as number the one album in Vatican City, Rome. He has traveled for “Book of Hope” too. He recently recorded for a telefilm at the Satyajit Ray’s National Television and Film Institute, Calcutta. Daya received many offers to join the commercial world and make a name for himself… instead he chose to sing for his creator, the greatest honor one could ever get.
Today, Daya travels across the country and ministers in different churches, schools, colleges, and at youth and pastor’s conferences. He serves as the National Coordinator of Good News India, an organization working among the orphan children in Orissa and Bengal.
His dream is to touch the lives of the children of India and take Christian music into every home in India… because Christian music is simply irresistible.
