29 September 2010
Inpop Records band Newworldson was recently honored by the Gospel Music Association Canada with multiple 2010 Covenant Award nominations. The pop-gospel artist was among this year’s top nominees, with eight nods including both Group of the Year and Artist of the Year.
This year Newworldson garnered coveted nominations for Group of the Year, alongside fellow Canadians Hawk Nelson, Starfield, Thousand Foot Krutch and Downhere, and Artist of the Year. The group’s hit single “There Is A Way,” was nominated for Song of the Year, Recorded Song of the Year, and Pop-Contemporary Song of the Year, while its sophomore self-titled release is up for Album of the Year and Folk-Roots Album of the Year. Newworldson’s song “Do You Believe In Love” was also nominated for Folk-Roots Song of the Year.
“After all this year's travel to countries around the world, it was so encouraging to come home to discover we had been recognized in this way by GMA Canada,” says Newworldson frontman Joel Parisien. “We're proud to be believers, proud to be Canadians and certainly proud to be nominated alongside so many other talented artists."
Produced by the Gospel Music Association Canada, the Covenant Awards is the pinnacle event in what is known as GMA Canada Week. The 32nd Annual Covenant Awards will take place at First Alliance Church in Calgary Alberta Canada on Friday, October 29. For more information and a complete list of nominees, visit www.gmacanada.ca.

The band claimed a No. 1 music video on the Gospel Music Channel with “Working Man,” while earning a guest spot on newsboys’ wildly popular “GO” tour, as well as invitations to headline festivals in Australia, Germany, Holland and Sweden. Its national debut, Salvation Station, additionally elicited unanimous critical acclaim, hailed as GRAMMY-worthy by industry trade publication Christian Retailing and praised by AllMusic.com as “one of 2008’s most enjoyable, well-written albums.” The band's sophomore self-titled project released February 20 10, producing Newworldson's first radio hit, "There Is A Way," which topped the Canadian Christian Radio Charts and peaked at No. 2 on the Radio & Records Christian AC Monitored & Indicator charts.
