Hi, I’m Jurgen, and this is My World.

I grew up in Romania, under a communist regime. After the Romanian Revolution in 1989, we immigrated to Germany. Being raised as a Roman Catholic, I went to church pretty frequently. I took part in all the rituals and ceremonies without really knowing what they meant. But I thought that God might somehow be pleased if I did the things you usually do at church. Sometimes I would go to the priest and confess my sins, I even repeated the prayers, but I always felt that my sins were not forgiven and that God was just waiting to punish me.

I started to hate the church and became bitter towards God. I remember saying one day, “God, I don’t know who you are, but even if you exist, I don’t want to have anything to do with you.” I hated God, I hated myself and I hated everyone else.

The only thing I cared about was music. One day a guy asked me to play in his band. Since I was looking for a new challenge, I agreed to join. I got so involved in the band that I only hung out with the guys from the band. Had I known that some of them were Christians, I never would have joined them. I started to go to church and became more and more interested in Jesus and the Bible. After going to a music camp in Scotland in 1996, I read the Gospel of John. I realized that Jesus is either the Son of God, or the biggest liar who ever lived on this earth.

One night at home I listened to music and the words said, “Jesus wants me now.” No one had ever told me that I needed to accept Jesus or pray the sinners prayer. But in that moment it became clear to me that I was a sinner and that only Jesus could save me. So I kneeled down and prayed to Jesus. For the first time, I knew that I was forgiven and that nothing could separate my from God anymore. Since then, I live for Him.

The Bible says in Colossians 2:6, “As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.” This is a verse that is applicable to my future, because I know that Jesus will leave me and that he will provide for everything that I need.
