An Evening With Shane & Shane is released!
Shot in Super Definition and 5.1 Surround Sound, An Evening with Shane & Shane features nine fan favorites and one new song, “Arise.” The CD/DVD was taped with a live audience at Shane & Shane’s own Spaceway Studios in Duncanville, Texas, and features special footage including a studio tour and guitar lessons from Shane Barnard.
FYI, I wanted to tell you a little more about what the guys are doing, in addition to making records and touring with David Crowder on the Collision Tour this fall. It's a really interesting story, as Shane & Shane are on the front end of an emerging market. Here's more-
Shane & Shane- The Unassuming Entrepreneurs
Live Acoustic Double-Disc Drops in September, Nascent Gaming Company Takes Flight
Everybody knows these guys as the humble, amicable duo that‚s taken the college market by storm. They basically live on the road and have built a huge, loyal fan base by their hardy grassroots effort. BUT, there‚s another story to this pair that folks would never know about because the guys are too self-effacing to talk about!
In addition to making records (the new acoustic DVD/CD combo ˜taped live at Spaceway Studios in Texas-- releases Sept. 13th), Shane Barnard and Shane Everret are brilliant entrepreneurs, having recently purchased an amazing old warehouse space in Duncanville, TX (Spaceway Studios) where they are building a progressive gaming/video graphics company.
The start-up company, Media Juice, is about 8 months old, and there, in the middle of nowhere, Texas, Shane & Shane employ some of the brightest young producers (Will Hunt- Shane & Shane, Ginny Owens etc), designers and engineers to develop storylines/commercials/trailers, etc., from conception to completion, for various gaming powerhouses. From cartoon character development to the sonic bells and whistles, Shane & Shane‚s company is a one-stop shop. To add further cred, Atari is one of Media Juice‚s most well known clients.
I was recently down in Duncanville for the taping, and I‚m telling you, it‚s impressive. The remodeled warehouse space alone is worth a visit (and definitely perfect for a photo shoot!) and the guys‚ quiet creativity echoes down each corridor. The walls are lined with original paintings (some by Shane E‚s wife, Kelly) and the vibe/decor is super modern. There are walls and walls of instruments and several studios in-house, as well as offices where the video/gaming work is constructed (and I can get you screen shots to print of all the games/video they have in the works!)
Everyone in the place is mid-twenties to early thirties. The team Shane & Shane is building is young, bright and on the front end of a market that has evolved into an entertainment force, with $7.3 billion in games sold worldwide last year. The video gaming industry has enjoyed an explosion in the last five years, and these guys are well equipped to flourish.
I think this is a story that fans would find especially interesting (consumers spent over $8 billion dollars last year in game sales & rentals!) as well as music industry folks, given all the synergy happening between labels and gaming companies as artists are being commissioned now to provide original music for consoles/games/etc.
And, by the way, Shane & Shane will be co-headlining a huge fall tour with David Crowder soon. Can anyone say busy?
