|Kainos signs to Southern Signal Records
15 March 2005
Southern Signal Records has signed Nashville-based group Kainos, one of Christian music’s most highly-anticipated new rock acts. With comparisons to bands like Concrete Blonde and Stone Temple Pilots, founding members Ben and Hannah Stacy have crafted an aggressive collection of songs with their debut CD, Alive.
Ben spent his youth in the Ukraine and Brazil as a child of missionaries, while Hannah grew up singing in her rural Tennessee church. Ben’s family eventually returned to the states and settled in Hannah’s hometown in his teens, leading to an eventual musical - and romantic - collaboration.
"We had a good bit in common," Hannah, says, "especially our love for music, and our desire to get others to start thinking about their own beliefs to get to the core."
Kainos came to the attention of Southern Signal Records after label president Robert De La Garza heard Hannah sing at a relative’s high school graduation. It wasn’t long before Ben and Hannah became one of the label’s debut artists.
"From their incredible songwriting to their great performances, we at Southern Signal Records believe the message and the music of Kainos will impact youth around the world in a very positive way for many years to come," says De La Garza. "The lyrics of Kainos will cause you to think. The music of Kainos will cause you to feel. The performance of Kainos will create a long lasting memory in your minds and hearts. Southern Signal Records is proud to present Kainos to the world."
Alive will be in stores April 26th through Southern Signal Records, EMI EMM and EMI CMG Distribution. Marketing highlights include 7 main stage festival appearances (including Atlanta Fest and Rock the Universe), 50,000 stickers distributed to festival goers, a massive online promotional campaign and a slot on the Shoutfest 2005 Fall Tour. The first single, "Selfish Me", will be released this month to Rock radio.
In support of the release, Kainos will be joining Food for the Hungry’s ‘Will Play For Food Tour’ this spring, sharing the stage with Fusebox, Downhere, Jonah33 and Grand Prize.
