Third Day releases the third installment of its platinum selling Offerings worship series, Christmas Offerings, this week amid rave reviews, sold-out tour dates and solid momentum at radio.
Allmusic.com, who gave the album a 4-star rating, says, “Third Day’s Southern rock treatment of favorite Christmas melodies is a breath of fresh holiday air for rock enthusiasts. The quintet blends the energy of its six studio releases with the graceful spirit of carols like ‘Angels We Have Heard on High’ and ‘O Come All Ye Faithful.’ The result is a collection of mostly mid-tempo drivers with plenty of buildups and cathartic climaxes. Overall, Third Day cements their sound further into the hearts of fans while whetting the appetite of those unfamiliar with their catalog.”
Christian Retailing also supports the album by noting, “With a nice blend of originals, studio tracks and live recordings as well as a nice variety of tunes, Third Day’s version of Christmas suits the band very well.”
As positive reviews pour in, the band continues to impress sell-out crowds with its riveting live rock-show on the fall leg of its Wherever You Are tour. David Huffman, COO of Creative Trust, Third Day’s long time management partner, offers this observation. “The Third Day Wherever You Are Tour continues to perform well as a top-seller in this fall touring season. City after city, Third Day fans keep coming back for a night of encouragement, worship and rock n’ roll. ”
Momentum on the current radio single, “Mountain of God,” has allowed for consistent Top 5 rank on multiple charts since its release on June 23, 2006. The song has claimed the #1 spot on R&R AC Monitored, R&R AC Indicator, R&R Inspirational, CRW AC, CRW Inspirational and Billboard Hot Christian Tracks, and continues to receive some of the highest testing scores available in radio listening across the country. “Born In Bethlehem,” an original song written for Christmas Offerings, will be the first single from the Christmas worship album and will be available to all radio formats this week.
Christmas Offerings, produced by Third Day (along with help from producer/engineer Don McCollister), offers 13-songs: nine Christmas classics and four original songs written by the band. The recording process itself was also unique. While several tracks were recorded in a traditional manner, many tracks were recorded live in the studio and backed by a live audience during an intimate theater recording session at Nickel and Dime studios in the band’s hometown. Christmas Offerings will likely become this year’s most powerful Christmas album and a favorite for years to come.
Over the past decade, Third Day has amassed 22 #1 radio singles and sold almost six million albums, with RIAA certifications including one Platinum record, one Platinum DVD, and six Gold records. The band has garnered 24 career Dove Awards, two GRAMMY Awards (from seven nominations), two consecutive American Music Award nods, multiple ASCAP honors, and has developed an historic partnership with Chevrolet. Third Day has maintained a touring record second-to-none by playing for audiences reaching into the millions. In addition to these many accolades, the band is most proud of its humanitarian efforts that include raising nearly $200,000 for the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita and encouraging over 15,000 fans to sponsor children across the globe through the work of World Vision.
