01 November 2005
IndieHeaven, the leading Christian independent artist organization has announced that CIA SUMMIT 2006 will be held March 24-26, 2006 at The Factory in Franklin, Tennessee. The Nashville-based company's annual event is specifically tailored to educate independent Christian artists and provide a balanced representation of the paths available to them.
IndieHeaven has also announced the first annual IndieHeaven MOMENTUM Awards, to be handed out at CIA Summit 2006. Artists nominations can be made on the IndieHeaven website at www.indieheaven.com until November 30, 2005. Votes will be cast by the public between December 1, 2005 and March 1, 2006. The final award winners will be announced on Saturday, March 25, 2006, with one artist being awarded a scholarship for a 10 song album project produced by Jim Cooper, who produced Building 429's smash debut album Glory Defined (Word Records).
"It's important to recognize and applaud the efforts made in recent years by artists who are independent," says IndieHeaven founder and CIA SUMMIT director Keith Mohr. "By providing them the recognition they have earned we hope to increase their platform and awareness. There are many independent artists who are doing an incredible job with their music, and most importantly their mission. We look forward to the awards being a part of our annual artist conference."
Industry leaders will be on hand to cover a variety of topics including self-management and promotion, legal aspects of the music industry, developing your testimony, marketing and distribution. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and hear from successful independent artists who are seeing real action in their music careers.
CIA stands for Christian Indie Artist - a term that Mohr believes is a label that should be worn with humility. "We want artists to realize that by being interdependent, they can help one another succeed and may never need to give up control of their music and ministry," says Mohr. "We encourage artists to share information and ideas, and to work together and cultivate community. We facilitate interdependency."
IndieHeaven is a web-based community dedicated to bringing together independent Christian artists from around the globe, to enable, equip, affirm, and empower them to fulfill God's call on their lives. The website also provides independent artists with an advanced set of tools to promote, market and distribute their music.
