Pure White?

A thin veil covers her glowing face, as the music begins to play. People stand and look behind them. The bride is dressed in pure white, her gown flairs out at her waist, leaving a long train of shining fabric behind her. While everyone is looking at her, her eyes are focused on one thing. She is looking at the man standing at the end of the aisle. She is looking at her husband.

She walks towards him eager to take his hands. She has waited her whole life for this moment. She dreamed about it as a little girl. She found the one God intended for her, and she was ready for him. She could proudly wear the purest of white, because she had saved herself for this moment. She saved her virginity for her husband and for her God. She was the greatest gift she could give to him.

Does this sound like a scene out of a fairy tale? The possibility of waiting till you are married to have sex seem impossible?

Purity and abstinence are not concepts from your grandparents. They are biblical principles that God gave us not only to keep us safe, but principles to let us experience one of God’s greatest gifts. Sex. God created sex so we could have children, but He also created it for our pleasure. He designed male and female bodies to be joined together. He gave us this great gift. Sex is beautiful and even spiritual, IF it is in the bounds of marriage. The bible says in Genesis 2:24, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” He designed sex for marriage only. Hebrews 13:4 says, “Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept pure.”

Sex before marriage is a dangerous sport. It leaves you open to all sorts of sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy. In the 1940’s there were two known sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Today, there are twenty five! The STDs that were contracted in the 40’s could be treated with antibiotics. The STDs today can be deadly and cause massive damage to your internal reproduction organs. The threat of HIV and AIDS has destroyed entire countries.

With the threats of pregnancy and STDs, having sex outside of marriage also creates a bond with the person you are sleeping with. I Corinthians 6:16-20 says, (Message) There's more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, "The two become one." Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us more lonely than ever—the kind of sex that can never "become one." There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for "becoming one" with another. Or didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.

So you see, God created us in His Image. He also created us for sex. No matter what ethnicity you are, or what type of background that you have been raised in, God wants to bless you and your marriage. God wants you pure in body as well as pure in soul. Stand strong. Protect your virginity; it is the only gift that you can give away only once. You are not alone, thousands of people are holding on to their virginity, waiting for that one special person.

If you have already lost your virginity, do not give up hope! God loves you more than anything and he has completely forgiven you, if you ask him too. Start today! Start valuing yourself and your body. You can start your quest of staying pure today. God honors those pure in heart. It is never too late to start living the life of purity.
