But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
I was eighteen years old. I wanted to get married really bad. I was looking hard and far for the one God had for me.
It was then that the Lord dealt with me to take one year and give it completely to Him without any dating at all. I thought it would be a difficult year, but it wasn’t. God did so much in my life in that one year. He straightened out my priorities and gave me a defined purpose.
Just a few months after that year ended, I found my wife. She was literally the girl of my dreams: Six months before, I had dreamed I would marry her. She was beautiful, intelligent, and graceful in every way. There is no doubt I overachieved in my marriage to Cathy. When I put God first, He brought me His best.
Let God have your heart, and He will give you His desires for you.
Heavenly Father, I commit to put You first in every area of my life, including my relationships. I won’t seek after people or things. I seek You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
