Hope Devotional - Critics Return to previous page

And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
1 Samuel 17:33

There will always be someone who will be glad to tell you why you canít succeed, if you are willing to listen. The world is full of critical people who have failed and want to keep others down with them. Even the most successful people in life have been told by critics why they canít achieve their dreams. When the movie Star Wars was first released in 1977, a movie critic gave this negative review: ďOí dull new world! It is all as exciting as last yearsí weather reportÖĒ Little did that critic realize the huge success Star Wars would have.

If you have critics in your life telling you why you canít succeed, donít listen to them. The good news is that Godís opinion of you is the one that really counts. And God is your biggest fan; He believes in you. Every time you read your Bible, you will see God encouraging you and cheering you on. Even when you fall down, He is there to pick you back up. Feed your dreams the encouragement they need by reading Godís Word.

Commitment Prayer

Heavenly Father, I refuse to listen to the critics who tell me all the reasons I canít achieve my dreams. I thank You that You believe in me even when others donít. Thank You that even when I fall, You pick me up and cheer me on. Thank You for the encouragement I find every day in Your Word. In Jesusí name, Amen.
